Wk13 As a demo teacher
When I participated as a student and evaluator in the demo teaching, I was not nervous but as a demo teacher, standing in front of the students, I almost forgot my part. I discussed the activity and answers with the students. I asked the students to guess the patterns of the sentence. They got some of the questions right but for some students also got confused and said the wrong answers. I got confused with their answer too so I had a mistake with a certain number where I accepted the students’ answer when it was wrong. This time I have realized that I should have master my parts without a mistake and don’t be carried along the students’ answers. After the demo teaching, I felt sorry to my group mates rushing and committing mistake during the demo teaching. By remembering and correcting these mistakes done, I will be presenting better demo teaching next time.

Wk12 As an evaluator
This time, I have participated the demo teaching as an evaluator. We had to observe the strategies and how they manage the demo teaching. The first demo teachers had their lesson on series of adjectives giving the examples of adjectives then activities, and lecture followed as well. They had a lot of activities compared to the lesson. It could have been better if they elaborated more on the lecture part. The second demo teachers on the locations of map, they were prepared with all the materials needed for the students. And the last demo-teacher had their lesson on measuring. They made use of a kangaroo picture in demonstrating the length for better comprehension than the text. As I was evaluating, I looked at all the demo teachers’ rubrics, some just had 4 criteria having 12 as the highest score and some had more than 5 criteria having 70 as the highest score. Since they all had different rubrics, we also had to observe if the demo teachers have fulfilled their lesson according to their rubric.

Wk11 As a student
Participating demo teaching as a student was very helpful for us to know how to present for our demo teaching. The first lesson was on literature, a short story of “The Giving Tree”. I liked their activities and some questions asked to the students to check if we had really understood the story. The Second demo teaching was Hekasi, teaching the nationality to the students. They first started with guessing the lines of the music where it was hard for me since I’m not familiar to those music they’ve asked us to guess. Also, they explained the symbols in the flag and while explaining the symbol of peace, they mentioned Korean war which was not relevant to the lesson. I don’t understand why they had to mention the Korean war in explaining the Peacefulness of the Philippines. Also, their video didn’t work having technical problems. But I liked their presentation for the demo teachers were very enthusiastic. The last demo teaching was on math and their lesson was on the Cartesian plane. Their starter was good where they have told us the history and anecdote on the Cartesian plane with music. Their power point presentation was also understandable, interesting with lots of graphs and pictures. Their games were confusing but overall; all the demo teachers for today had done a great job! :)

Wk10 ㅣesson plan
Before our group made our lesson plan, it took us time to decide the topic on the demo teaching. We had to think which lesson would be appropriate for our target year level. Then we also had to consider the topic which all our group mates know. After thinking on the topic, we have decided to teach basic sentence pattern which is also being taught for high school 1st year level. Next we discussed the process of the topic. We have thought kinds of activities we are going to have and also on how the topic is going to be discussed. We still have to discuss more on these parts and I hope we will do our best to make a good demo teaching presentation.

W9 Rubric
Our group has come up with a rubric for our demo teaching presentation. First we have searched for the rubrics in the internet for a reference to see how it is organized then we took note on the important criteria to be considered in out rubric. Then after making our own rubric, we had it checked and evaluated by the other groups. We also evaluated other groups’ rubric and after looking at theirs, we realized what we missed and lacked in our rubric. We forgot to include the score which is 0 also; there was no indication of the total score. After having it checked, we planned to improve our rubric again.

W8 P.E
Physical education with speaker Mr. Elorde reminded me how I have thought about P.E. This subject was being taught once a week for 2hours. Physical education is not just simply moving and exercising but it also teaches techniques for the students to understand how to move and how to enjoy different sports. Sometimes it requires the teacher’s discussion but often by demonstrating the postures and other instructions needed to be reminded. To test the students, yes, I remember during my high school days individual or group skilled games served as a practical test such as softball, table tennis, volleyball, Swimming, and Chinese/Japanese dances. But in teaching physical education, Mr. Elorde has mentioned that there could be some difficulties to face and I think sickness would also be a factor where I also have experience in high school. In my first year high school, I had severe skin asthma so I wasn’t able to participate swimming lesson with my classmates. This affected my grade where instead of swimming, I had to report on the kinds of strokes. I had no choice but just to watch my classmates and make presentation on the assigned topic. Also, it was new to know from Mr. Elorde that in P.E he shows film viewing. In my high school P.E, it was all lecture, activities and practical but no film viewing. I think would be a great lesson strategy as long as the film is relevant to the topic being discussed. For me, P.E was always one of my favorite subjects not because of the different sports taught in the class but also because of the skillful teacher who manages the class well. No matter the subject is hard or easy, if the teacher really knows the topic well and proficient with the subject it is sure that the students are going to find the subject really meaningful.

W7 Online class
Online class!! :) All I need to do was to visit others’ blog and evaluate their blog. I visited 5 different blogs. After visiting their blogs, I have realized what are missing in my blog, what should be added. Also, I have learned how I should improve my blog. In rating my own blog, I know I’m always lazy to post and I tend to forget that I have to write blogs… I guess I have to visit others’ blog often too and also always be reminded with writing my blog :)
